The away mission started today at 05:00hrs. How I got everybody out of the house by then I will never know. We pulled into the parking garage at 06:08hrs and waited around town until 09:30 when the Air and Space Museum opened. In the meantime we walked along the Mall and visited the Reflecting Pool across the street from the Capitol Building. We did make a blitz for the McDonalds around the corner when we spotted it.

We spend almost three hours inside the Air and Space Museum, even though almost 40% of the building was under renovation. After a disagreeable lunch from a street vendor, we rushed through some of the Museum of American History. It was obvious that we needed at least a week to properly "do" Washington, but we learned a great deal from our trip. A conclusion of our away missions will be posted at the end of our trip.

We left town at 15:00hrs and just missed the traffic leaving town. On the way out the kids did see the Jefferson Memorial and the Pentagon quite easily. We may go out locally tonight, and we plan on going on tomorrow's away mission much later than we did today.
