| Stardate 990626.21 Well we were on the road by 06:08hrs this morning. We traveled into Pennsylvania Dutch country (Lancaster County, PA) and stopped at several places to stimulate the economy. I did discover an Amish store with a website {www.amishonline.com} !!! I also bought a Amish hat to blend in with my beard (native camoflage). The Pennsylvania Roads were in bad shape. You could tell those areas that have heavy snow chain use in the slow lanes. We tried to find the barracks at Carlisle without any success. I did ask a State Trooper for it's location and he sent me towards the Trooper barracks instead. I decided at 12:30hrs to head towards Gettysburg. We toured Gettysburg until 16:30hrs. I took the kids to the Angle and we drove most of the park. I showed the kids and Jenny the terrain where there great-something uncle was killed on July 2, 1863 as a member of the 7th S.C., Kershaw's Brigade. All seemed to be fascinated by the area, even me. I looked out over the area where Pickett's Charge was conducted and shuddered to think about crossing all that open ground under fire. I do plan on going back some day and visit a few more areas and take more time doing so. We moved to Frederick, MD and tried to look up Tom "Little Guy" Restivo. We found out he must be still kidnapped by the Vorta (or so I was told) and left after we terrorized a Burger King with SSGT McQuack in the playground area. Arrived back at the farm at 21:00hrs. I am once again concerned about the car, but considering the amount of miles that we placed on it today I will do a complete lookover in the morning and decided from there. I did not help that the tailpipe was crushed this morning (I was not driving so that narrows it a bit). Tomorrow we will go to church with Uncle Norm and Aunt Midge and treat them to a lunch-time meal. In the afternoon we will slide towards Fredericksburg, VA for the next phase of our trip. If the car gets much worse, however, I may be looking towards home a lot sooner than I had planned. To date the car has traveled almost 2600 miles and we have traveled almost 2900 miles. It does not feel a mile over 2500! [END LOG FOR THIS STARDATE] Back to Front Page ![]() |
