| Stardate 990623.21 We hit the road after 09:00 and we drove to take some pictures of McCabe Woods in Antrim, NH. We then proceeded to Phillips Exeter Academy and I located the areas I remembered from 24 years ago when I was present for my brother Peter's graduation. We then proceeded to cruise along the coast of NH (what little there is of it) and even climbed out on a long stretch of rocks along the edge of the shore. Our next destination was to find a restaurant in Maine and order a Maine Lobster. We had many abortive attempts as it was just after 14:00 and nobody was open (just closed for lunch, too early for dinner). We located a place just north of York, ME that was open and we had the place fairly much too ourselves for the majority of the meal. Now I must walk a very fine line here. All I can say was that the service was poor, the food grossly overpriced (I could get a lobster at Publix much cheaper) and the drinks were undersized and highly priced. We arrived at 15:00, ordered at 15:15, was served at 15:45 and we were generally ignored by the obviously new waitress even though we were the only ones in the place. When we were eating we noticed that another group came in and ordered right away and was served within 15 minutes. I left a poor tip to match the poor service. The manager followed me out to the car and chewed me out for the lack of a tip. I told her that the waitress was under par and she then told me I am not longer welcome in that establishment. I did get her name and business card before I left. Needless to say, Scott and I will be contacting the Chamber of Commerce of York, ME in addition to the Better Business Bureau. Tomorrow we will swing through Fall River on the way to Dover, DE. I can now say that I did go into Maine and I have no real reason to ever enter it again. My question is, what ever happened to the phase "Ya'll come back now, ya' here!" ??? [END LOG FOR THIS STARDATE] Back to Front Page ![]() |
